BP5.5-12RT is a 12 V maintenance-free lead-acid battery from the B.B. Battery BP general purpose series. Its nominal capacity is 5.5 Ah at the 20-hour rate, 5.23 Ah at the 10-hour rate, and 4.68 Ah at the 5-hour rate. The battery weighs 1.85 kg and uses the RT standard terminal type. It is built with a leak-proof (no free electrolyte) design and holds no free electrolyte, so it requires no topping up and remains maintenance free (no topping up required) in daily service. Its low self-discharge, less than 3% per month, helps it retain charge during storage. The design supports vertical and horizontal installation, a flame arrestor integrated in each cell and a built-in flame arrestor for added safety reinforce protection, and carrying handles for easier installation make the unit easier to handle on site. BP5.5-12RT is suitable for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, security systems, emergency lighting and video surveillance systems, access control systems, medical equipment, communication facilities, alternative energy, power grids and the power industry, street lighting and traffic signals, and data centers.
