Pre-Order Checklist: Four Points to Confirm When Buying Lead-Acid Batteries
When buying lead-acid batteries, confirming the requirement before ordering saves more time than exchanging goods afterwards. This checklist covers four points: voltage and capacity, terminal type, mounting method and load-bearing capacity, and whether a long-life or high-rate series is needed. Each can be confirmed item by item against the parameter table BB Battery publishes.
The first point is voltage and capacity. The capacity items in the parameter table include nominal capacity (Ah) at the 20-hour, 10-hour, 5-hour, 8-hour, 2-hour, 1-hour and 30-minute rates, together with rated power (W/cell) at the 15-minute rate. Before ordering, confirm the voltage the system requires and which hour rate the capacity is given at, so that data from different discharge rates is not compared directly. Where the load is short high-rate discharge, the 30-minute rate or the 15-minute rate power figure matters; where discharge is prolonged, the 20-hour rate and similar capacity items apply.
The second point is terminal type. BB Battery terminal types include B1, T2 I1, B6, I3, T2, T1, B9, B7, I2, B2, I1 I2, B3, B5, L1, I2 B7, B4, RT, I4, T1 B0, T3, T1T2, BE, I1, B0 B1, H and I3 B6. The parameter table distinguishes standard terminal type from optional terminal type. Write the required terminal code when ordering, and confirm that the standard configuration of the chosen model matches the site terminals, connecting bars and cable lugs.
The third point is mounting method and load-bearing capacity. The parameter table gives weight (kg), which can be used to check handling conditions and the load-bearing capacity of the installation support. Shelves, rails and fixings of cabinets, racks or battery boxes should be calculated item by item against the weight of the corresponding model; for replacement projects, also confirm that the dimensions and connection positions of the new battery fit the existing space. This point must be checked against the weight of the specific model and cannot be replaced by a series name.
The fourth point is whether a long-life or high-rate series is needed. BB Battery series include BC deep cycle, BP general purpose, BPL general purpose long life, BPX general purpose, BPS general purpose, EB electric, EP portable power, EVP electric vehicle, FTB front terminal, HR high rate, HRL high rate long life, MPL long-life standby, MSU telecom-grade standby, SH high rate and SHR high rate deep cycle, together with Zelus-GFT gel narrow, Zelus-GBS gel solar, Zelus-GB gel general purpose and Zelus-GBC gel deep cycle. Where the application is UPS, telecommunications or solar storage and needs long-life float service, compare within BPL, MPL, FTB and MSU; where high-rate discharge is required, the HR, SHR and SH series apply.
Turning the four points above into a checklist, and comparing it item by item with the model, voltage, capacity at each hour rate, weight, standard terminal type and optional terminal type, confirms the series positioning and completes the pre-order specification check. All data is subject to the parameter items of the corresponding model; series names are only used for initial screening.
