The BPL85-12 is a 12 V valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery from the B.B. Battery BPL general purpose long life series, with a nominal capacity of 85 Ah at the 20-hour rate, 72.25 Ah at the 5-hour rate and 42.5 Ah at the 30-minute rate, and a weight of about 31.2 kg. The BPL general purpose long life series is intended for long-term standby service. The battery uses absorbent glass mat (AGM) technology for efficient gas recombination and is maintenance free, with no free acid and low self-discharge. It can be installed in any orientation (inverted position not allowed), and an explosion-proof filter and a flame arrestor are fitted. The standard terminal type is B3 and the optional terminal type is I2, and its 31.2 kg weight remains manageable for two-person installation in racks and cabinets. It is suitable for uninterruptible power supply, security systems, emergency lighting and video surveillance systems, access control systems, medical equipment, communication facilities, alternative energy, power grids and the power industry, street lighting and traffic signals, and data processing centers.
