BPL20-12 is a 12 V valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) maintenance-free battery in the B.B. Battery BPL general purpose long life series. Its nominal capacity is 20 Ah at the 20 hour rate, 17 Ah at the 5 hour rate and 10 Ah at the 30 minute rate, and the battery weighs 6.4 kg. B1 is the standard terminal type, while T2 and I1 are available as optional terminal types. The battery uses absorbent glass mat (AGM) technology for efficient gas recombination, giving a design with no free acid (leak-proof battery) and a low self-discharge rate. It can be used in any orientation (inverted position not allowed), which makes the layout of a cabinet or a compact housing easier to plan, and an explosion-proof filter fitted together with a flame arrestor fitted for safety add protection in the event of an internal fault. Typical applications include uninterruptible power supply, security systems, emergency lighting and video surveillance systems, access control systems, medical equipment, communication facilities, alternative energy, power grids and the power industry, street lighting and traffic signals and data processing centers.
