BPL170-6 is a maintenance-free valve-regulated sealed lead-acid battery from the B.B. Battery BPL general purpose long life series, with a rated voltage of 6 V. Its nominal capacity is 170 Ah at the 20-hour rate, 144.5 Ah at the 5-hour rate and 85 Ah at the 30-minute rate, and it weighs 29.2 kg. The standard terminal type is B9, and I3 is available as an optional terminal type. The battery is maintenance free (no water addition required) and has a no free acid (leak-proof battery) design, along with a low self-discharge rate. Absorbent glass mat (AGM) technology for efficient gas recombination supports the recombination of gases during charging, an explosion-proof filter is fitted and a flame arrestor fitted for safety protects the cells, while the battery can be used in any orientation (inverted position not allowed). BPL170-6 is suitable for uninterruptible power supply, security systems, emergency lighting and video surveillance systems, access control systems, medical equipment, communication facilities, alternative energy, power grids and the power industry, street lighting and traffic signals, and data processing centers.
