The BPL17-12 is a 12 V valve-regulated sealed lead-acid (VRLA) battery from the B.B. Battery BPL general purpose long life series. Nominal capacity is 17 Ah at the 20-hour rate, 14.45 Ah at the 5-hour rate and 8.5 Ah at the 30-minute rate, with a weight of 6.15 kg. A standard B1 terminal type is fitted, and T2 I1 terminal types are available as options. The battery uses absorbent glass mat (AGM) technology for efficient gas recombination to recombine internal gas efficiently, and it is maintenance free (no water addition required) with no free acid (leak-proof battery) construction. Self-discharge is low, and the battery can be used in any orientation (inverted position not allowed), which makes integration easier in compact equipment. It also carries an explosion-proof filter fitted and a flame arrestor fitted for safety. Applications include Uninterruptible power supply, security systems, emergency lighting and video surveillance systems, access control systems, medical equipment, communication facilities, alternative energy, power grids and the power industry, street lighting and traffic signals and data processing centers.
