The GBS12-170 is a 12 V valve-regulated lead-acid battery from the B.B. Battery Zelus-GBS gel solar series, rated at 170 Ah nominal capacity for the 20-hour rate. Its electrolyte is held as a gel, so the acid is immobilized and cannot stratify, and because gelled electrolyte fills the battery, heat conducts easily to the case. GBS offers long cycle life and lasting performance at high temperatures, which makes the model a dependable choice for warm climates and repeated cycling. The battery is maintenance free (no water addition required) and self-discharge is low, with less than 2% capacity loss per month. Precise distribution of valve opening and closing pressure is critical to battery (cycle) life, and a reinforcing rib design maintains structural integrity. Weighing 55 kg, the battery uses a standard B9 terminal type, with I3 available as an optional terminal type.
