The B.B. Battery HRL15-12 is a 12 V valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery from the HRL high rate long life series, with a nominal capacity of 13 Ah at the 10-hour rate and a weight of 4.2 kg. Its standard terminal type is T2, and T1 terminals can be specified as an option. The 10-hour rate rating means the battery delivers 13 Ah when discharged over ten hours, while the high-rate design also tolerates far heavier currents for short periods. The battery uses absorbent glass mat (AGM) technology, in which the electrolyte is fully absorbed by the separator so that gas recombines efficiently inside the cells. Because no free acid remains, the HRL15-12 is a leak-proof battery design. It is maintenance free and requires no water replenishment during service, which keeps routine attention to a minimum. The design supports high-rate discharge, and power density at the 5-15 minute discharge rate is 30% higher than the BP series, making the battery well suited to short-duration, high-power output such as switching and backup duty. The battery can be installed in any orientation (do not install inverted), which helps where cabinet space is limited and where cables must reach the terminals from an awkward angle.
